Benefit to Raise Money for Tom’s Pond Veterans Memorial

LAKE PARK — The city hosted a benefit to raise money for the Tom’s Pond Veterans Memorial of Lake Park, Georgia. Residents were encouraged to visit Tom’s Pond and bring lawn chairs and coolers to listen to the Jukebox Oldies Band, according to a city press release.

The final design of the memorial complex has yet to be decided, a 30-foot flag pole has been purchased and donated by Woodmen of the World. Along with the memorial, Mayor Eric Schindler would like to see benches, a play area and maybe a pavilion put out by the lake. He said he would like to see Tom’s Pond as a community area because it is the only waterfront in Lake Park that isn’t privately owned.

“Tom’s Pond is the jewel of our city,” said Schindler. “We just need to polish it.”

Please support Tom’s Pond Veterans Memorial. Donations are welcome.
